Burglar Alarm Installation

burglar_alarm_installationThe best way to install an alarm system is using a burglar alarm installation manual. It gives details of what the owner of the house should do to install the burglar alarm. Before the installation the user has to inspect the property in order to define the number of doors and windows that present a security threat. It is also necessary to include large halls and sitting spaces that need protection against intruder break in.

The next step is to decide on the kind of alarm to be installed. The owner has the option to choose between a wireless and a hard-wired alarm. It is usually easier to install wireless alarm as it requires no wires to be run across the house. The parts of the alarm can be inserted in the selected places as it is described in the installation manual.

The perfect place to install the control panel is in the basement (or any other place where it cannot be easily noticed by a burglar). It also should be within signal range. It means, the signals from other parts (magnetic switches and sensors) of the alarm should be able to reach the control panel.

Then it is necessary to install the magnetic switches on doors and windows that present a security threat. These switches consist of two components – a magnet and a switch – and are easy to install. The house owner must make sure that the switch and the magnet is close enough to notice the intruder to walk in at once. The alarm must set off when the distance between the magnet and the switch increases.

The next element you’ll have to install is the contact sensor. It should be installed in places of a home through which a burglar would pass. The owner of the house must carefully choose these places. It is correct to choose places close to an entry or exit that would always notice any motion.

Finally, the user will have to install the keypad. It should be installed near the entry to enable the owner to easily arm/disarm the alarm. It is also helpful to add motion-sensor lights around the house that would switch on whenever someone passes beneath them.

The installation of a hard-wired alarm comprises of similar procedures. The only difference is that all parts of the alarm system should be connected by electrical wiring. Installing a hard-wired alarm is more difficult as the wiring it requires should be concealed. Therefore the user will have to make an extra effort to install it.
